California 03:44
I’ve been heading down that western path Since I left my home the month before last I packed my things and didn’t turn back around Pacific bound from an eastern town When I left my home for the open road The leaves were green and the winds were slow Now it’s getting cold and the winds come fast Throwing me backwards, shooting stones and glass But I’m going to make it out to California I’m going straight and free as can be Everything I own is on my shoulders And, everything I had, I will set free The mud turns to dust beneath my shoes In the cornfields under a Nebraskan Blue When I reach Denver, I’ll be a mile high From the smoke in Boulder, I’ll be feeling bone dry But I’m a stone rollin’, picking up speed Trying to make the coast before I freeze These winter months really got a hold on me But when I see the sea that’s when I’ll know I’m free But I’m going to make it out to California I’m going straight and free as can be Everything I own is on my shoulders And, everything I had, I will set free

Sparrow 02:51
Oh, my sparrow, so narrow and gray Have you flown to warmer days? For now you are gone, and no songs do I hear This silence around me, it deafens my ears Daylight is fading and I’m falling fast The sun’s going down and the cold’s sweeping past Now I am frozen, and I’m praying for the morn Only you can save me, but I’d settle for dawn And I've saved my love Saved it all for you And this last message of desperation Is me saying I don’t know what to do Is me saying that I'm all black and blue Where you have you gone? For this silence is wrong Have you hidden yourself away? For I am so weary from missing you dearly And I just wish you would come home to stay Now I am just bones and a heart that beats I’ll put back my broken wings, piece by piece But I can’t be strong, no I will not fly But I’ll wait for you ‘til the day that I die And I've saved my love Saved it all for you And this last message of desperation Is me saying I don’t know what to do 'Cause you up and you left far too soon

In my building, I’ve got a neighbor upstairs Always stopping about Up all night, going right, left, right I can’t manage to drown ‘em out Monday through Thursday’s a 7, 8, 9 Friday through Sunday’s a 10 They’re so damn loud and there’s always a crowd And every week it starts again I don’t ask for much, I’d just like to get to rest And if they don’t carpet Their god damn apartment I’m gonna have to murder them I bought a couple speakers, a woofer and tweeters To give 'em a taste of what it’s like But when I started to play, I got a noise complaint From the tenant on my right  So, I guess I’ve lost the battle and I’m losing the war It surely is an awful feeling All that’s left to do now is hunker on down And put a carpet on my ceiling I don’t ask for much, I’d just like to get to rest And if they don’t carpet Their god damn apartment I’m gonna have to murder them

I could use a few drinks It's been a long, long day Bartender, line 'em up And I'll put 'em all away 'Cause I'm out on my own again I do this every time Everything was going great Until I started a fight And, once again, I'm out on my own Tryin' to get back in your good graces But I'm making the same mistakes And baby, oh baby, I'll start treatin' you right 'Cause I've been missin' your huggin' and your kissin' And your layin' next to me at night And although I've gotten to know This barstool pretty well I'd not have one ounce of regret Biddin' it fare thee well So, just give me a window, a signal, and elbow Lettin' me know that you've cool Oh, honey baby, all I need's a maybe And i'll come runnin' back to you And, once again, I'm out on my own Tryin' to get back in your good graces But I'm making the same mistakes And baby, oh baby, I'll start treatin' you right 'Cause I've been missin' your huggin' and your kissin' And your layin' next to me at night
